WHY DENTAL IMPLANTS DIFFER

LEARN ABOUT QUALITY DIFFERENCES FROM THE CLEANIMPLANT FOUNDATION, ONE OF THE BIGGEST INDEPENDENT QUALITY ASSESSMENTS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS.

Whether you have just begun your research into dental implants or have already decided on a treatment, we aim to provide useful information to help you make the best choice for your lifetime smile.

Dental implants are undoubtedly one of dentistry’s most pioneering developments in recent years. A dental implant is a screw that is used to replace the root of a missing tooth. Inserted into the jaw, an implant provides a solid foundation for a new tooth, bridge, or prosthesis – functional, aesthetic and usually permanent.

While dental implants can improve your dental health and aesthetic appearance, they also mean increased comfort for the patient. Unlike other forms of dental solutions, adjacent teeth require no treatment and normally are not affected at all. As a result, the implant settles in the jaw and the patient is left feeling as if it had always been there – a natural and familiar sensation.

Dental implants show a high success rate of more than 90%. However, the generally good healing of implants should not blind us to the problematic side effects and complications that can occur when inferior and contaminated implants are used.

Did you know that there are no standardized guidelines for the cleanliness of implant surfaces on the market despite a large number of manufacturers and implant models?

There are considerable differences in the quality of dental implants.

For example, if quality control is lacking, a factory-contaminated dental implant can be one of the reasons for poor healing, inflammatory processes and bone loss or even implant loss. Implants delivered in sterile packaging and yet contaminated are unfortunately found far too often in the CleanImplant Foundation’s analyses, as international studies confirm.

Not every practice is aware of this problem. And by no means every practice takes this into account when selecting the implant system to be used for its patients.

Look for a CleanImplant Certified Dentist that chooses the best possible dental implant for you from the wide range of systems on the market – an important step towards lasting treatment success.

WHO WE ARE

The non-profit CleanImplant Foundation, founded by dentist and biologist Dr. Dirk U. Duddeck in Berlin, Germany, has been striving to reveal quality deficiencies in dental implants for years. CleanImplant aims to raise awareness about the hidden dangers caused by dental implants with significant impurities. The organization demands uncompromising quality of medical devices – for the benefit of all patients.

The Foundation’s experts test the surface of dental implants for impurities. The sterile packaged implants are randomly selected and tested thoroughly in an officially accredited testing laboratory according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. No interference by the manufacturer means the testing process is completely objective, independent and the quality results cannot be bought. This serves to assure YOU, the patient, that our analyses are genuine, unbiased and in your best interest.

After completing of the implant quality assessment, a Scientific Advisory Board of internationally renowned professors and scientists control and approve the results based on a list of strict analyses criteria for clean implant surfaces created in collaboration with the CleanImplant Foundation.

Only after passing the peer-review stage can we declare an implant “clean” and safe. Only then can it be awarded the

CLEANIMPLANT TRUSTED QUALITY seal.

Dental implants – contaminated or brilliant quality? Find your highly skilled CLEANIMPLANT CERTIFIED DENTIST !

The CleanImplant Foundation offers dental practitioners its vast database of dental implant analyses on a professional platform to help them choose clean dental implants for their daily work.

Dental Implants with Impurities

It should certainly be a matter of course that all sterile packaged dental implants are clean and free of contaminants. Sadly, this is not always the case.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of an implant is not guaranteed either by the advertising of individual manufacturers or by information on the packaging, such as the CE mark or an FDA clearance. We have found avoidable, production-related residues on many implant surfaces such as plastic particles, silicones, surface-active cleaning agents and also remnants of tungsten, tin-bronze or nickel-chromium compounds.

These contaminants and unintended micrometer-scale particles are suspected of triggering uncontrolled foreign body reactions and can thus be partly responsible for complications during the osseointegration process or for inflammation around the implant (peri-implantitis).

‘Clean’ Dental Implants

However, as unpleasant as the consequences of bad implants can be, there are a lot of excellent products on the market that deserve the trust of dentists and patients. In your interest, your dentist should always choose a ‘clean’ implant, i.e. one that is verifiably tested and free of residues.

CleanImplant Certified Dentists rely on the independent quality checks and thorough analyses of the CleanImplant Foundation. You can be sure that a CleanImplant Certified Dentist will make the best possible choice of dental implant for a successful, long-term treatment result.
